Ethan Emerson started the Icy Hot Club with Pasadena-raised guitarist Ray Bergstrom a few years back, but says the band didn't really take off until they hooked up with bassist Justin LeChance a year ago and began incorporating vocal arrangements and harmonies into their performances.

Now part of a Westside retro-jazz-loving scene that also includes Dustbowl Revival, their repertoire includes Django Reinhardt-Stephane Grappelli classics "Minor Swing" and "Stompin' at Decca" as well as jazz chestnuts like "It Don’t Mean a Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing." But what sets them apart is how they recast pop tunes like "Sweet Dreams," "Cantina Band" from "Star Wars" and Stephen Foster's "My Old Kentucky Home" in gypsy jazz settings!

The Icy Hot Club:

Skillfully Conjuring 1930's Gypsy Jazz with their own unique twist! The Icy Hot Club is a Los Angeles based group that plays Gypsy Jazz music in the style of Django Reinhardt. Their group consists of two guitars and upright bass, violin, clarinet, and drums. They play a wide range of material including Gypsy, Pop, and Jazz.

Their versatility and extensive repertoire allow them to perform in situations ranging from instrumental background music for a cocktail hour or lounge, to tasteful and danceable music at weddings and dances, to exciting high-energy stage shows at clubs and parties.
